Arlyn Welty-Collins Obituary
ARLYN E. WELTY-COLLINS
Arlyn E. Welty-Collins of Silver Spring, Maryland on August 1, 2011, after a 3½ year battle with cancer. Beloved wife of John M. Welty for 44 years who preceded her in death, and David M. Collins for the past five years; adored mother of Eric, Steven and Carolyn; and grandmother of Kyle, Caitlyn and Ben. Also survived by sisters, Lavonne and June and brother Dallas. Since her diagnosis, she never stopped traveling, cooking, gardening, playing bridge, and creating memories with loving family, especially her grandchildren. "Lyn" was a 1955 graduate of Northwestern School of Nursing in Minneapolis and worked as a Registered Nurse most of her adult life. Lyn loved to travel and had the opportunity to accompany John Welty as a Foreign Service wife to Washington, DC, Kabul, Ankara and Taipei. In her retirement years, Lyn spent many days volunteering at the St. Luke Caring Ministry, both as a parish nurse and in the finance office. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910 on Friday, August 5 at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lyn's memory to the Jack and Lyn Welty Music Ministry Memorial at St. Luke Lutheran Church.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

I am so glad I had a chance last December to see Lyn enjoying life at her home in Silver Spring. I loved her cookies. My sincere condolences to Lyn's family and to Dave and his family.

I have lost a friend of 60 yrs. She had a wonderful life and left us all good memories...

Dave, You, your children, Jack and Lyn's children, and all of the grandchildren brought Lyn so much joy after losing Jack. She had so many good times and memories. Lyn was a special person, giving so much of herself towards helping others. She was a very good friend to my mom, Mary Goodwin, grandmother, and to me, especially after my mom died. I have very fond memories of her. Keep your memories close to your heart, she'll never leave you.
