On Thursday, June 30, 2011, of Hyattsville, MD. Beloved husband of Barbara C. Tymann; outstanding father of Amelia Benson; devoted brother of Joanne, Jack and Cathleen Benson; cherished brother-in-law of Carol-Ann, Richard Daniels and Kathy Benson; godfather of Nicole Daniels; uncle of Chris Curanovic. Past President and current member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Tuesday, July 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jerome's Church, 5205 43rd Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, on Wednesday, July 6, at 10 a.m. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amelia Benson Scholarship Fund, checks may be made out to the Brian X. Benson Memorial Fund c/o Bank of the West, P.O. I'm so saddened to hear about this. Brian was a great man and a dear friend. His involvement in the Alexandria Singers concerts added a tremendous level of professionalism year after year. He will be greatly missed.

I am sincerely sorry to hear of the loss of Brian. He was a solid trade unionist, and was always looking out for the welfare of Local 22's members. We at the Labor Council and Community Services Agency would like to express our condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed.

Dear Barbie,
Even though we are far away and haven't stayed in touch, you have always been dear friends to us. The news about Brian was heart-breaking. I will always remember the two of you on Shanti movie nights or at your wonderful Christmas parties as a special part of a special time in my life. There is an old poem that says we lose the world one star at a time, and Brian is a star lost for us all. He was a good man and a good friend who will be missed.
