I am so sorry for your loss. I met Dave when he was teaching the pottery class at Walter Johnson, and followed him over to the new site at the old Blair. We also chatted as he walked through our neighborhood, and I was always glad to see him at the pottery classes. He was so knowledgeable about all facets of ceramics, from glazes to kiln repair, and so encouraging to beginning and experienced alike. He will be greatly missed.

I never met Mr Spangenberg but, through his daughter, Nancy, came to know a bit about him: his character, his love for his wife and family, his joy for living. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. Know that all of you are in the hearts and minds of all whose lives he and you have touched.

Spangenberg family,
Almost twenty years ago our families met as Tom married Amy and started a new branch off the strong bough your dad and mom, Dave and Jane, began, grew, nurtured and strengthened. Rarely getting to meet your parents, instead, through the years, I have been privileged to witness the living, growing, like still water – running deep, abiding power of their love and guidance demonstrated in the love, care, concern, strength, kindness and devotion Tom shows towards their family, following your parents' loving, brave, giving, nurturing, selfless example. Though Dave has left us for his eternal reward, know that he remains with us in the multitude of wonderful memories we all hold of his place in our lives, of those we love, as well as the many who knew him. May God's peace embrace Dave and family, now and forever.

Tom,
I am so sorry for your loss. Even though I never met your dad I know he had to be a wonderful person because you are evidence of his greatness. I trust that you and your family find the comfort you need in this time of sorrow.

Nancy and family,
Lyle and I are thinking of you all in our prayers while you miss your dad. The love he as for you all will remain with you. It is never easy. I liked seeing the twinkle in his eyes in the photos and we felt we were getting to know your dad, even though we had not met Lyle's cousin Dave. We love you. May God comfort you all.

Our darling Nancy and family. By knowing you only for a few short years, your mom and dad must have been very, patient, kind, caring and loving people because this is what we seeing in you Nancy. Your dad will always be with you just watch for the signs. Our precious Lord will mend that hole in your broken hearts but never completely. Smile at just the thought of your dad and the many years you had him as a gift here on this earth. God hold you all in his palm to help you through.
