DENNIS MICHAEL BARRY, SR. (Age 56)
On Wednesday, September 21, 2011 of Brookeville, MD. Beloved husband of Mary Margaret Barry (Stanton); father of Dennis M. Barry Jr., Annie K. Barry, Seamus P. Barry, and Patrick S. Barry; son of Julie Barry and the late David E. "Pat" Barry; son-in-law of Katherine M. Stanton and the late Dr. James S. Stanton; brother of Patrica (Bill) Jenkins, Isabelle (Stephen) Koenig, Jack (Kathleen) Barry, Mark (Lynda) Barry, and Butch (Leni) Barry. Also survived by many loving family members and friends. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Norbeck & Muncaster Mill Roads, Rockville, MD on Tuesday, September 27 at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Dennis and I were best friends in grade school at St. John´s for 1 year until he transferred to Bethesda Chevy Chase High School (BCC).

We did almost everything together.

Dennis was a great friend and we supported each other.
We also got in trouble a lot at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Our homes were like 2nd homes for each.

The scar on Dennis´s chin came from him falling off his bike going down a hill.

We lost contact, but I always followed him playing basketball at BCC.

We lost someone way too soon in life.

Dennis and I were best friends in grade school. We played together, went to school together, laughed together, and respected each other. I remember the night that Dennis and his Dad came to our house to play pool.
What a night! Wow, it's been a while since 2011.

OH I am so sorry a deeply sad to hear about Dennis. I so would have been there to see you all. My heart is sad for your loss. I know how this hurts and I pray today for each one of you that you would know the comfort of our Lord Jesus Christ.I so loved Dennis He was always a strong man, and true to his family. Dennis was an inspiration, a great athlete and a leader - I greatly admired him growing up. I am glad that I was able to talk to him while he was battling cancer - he still maintained that great sense of humor and optimism he always had. I was very sad to hear the news of Dennis' passing. I have so many fond memories between the Barry & Patkus family growing up. Although I was much younger than all of the Barry kids--they always treated me like a little sister whenever I went to their house.
