On Saturday, April 27, 2013, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Ruth Watkins; father of Debbie (John) Murray, Diana (Pat) McMahan and Donald (Lan) Watkins, Jr.; grandfather of Ryan, Chris, Matt, Dan, Nick and Kendall. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.; where the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. To Mrs. Watkins,Debbie,Diana and Donnie, so very sorry to learn about the passing of Mr. Watkins. It certainly brought a of flood of memories of Neeley Rd. and Oakview to me.We were so lucky to grow up on a street that had so many wonderful neighbors. Ruth, we were saddened to hear of Don's passing. He was an inspiration to us all. We will always remember his smiling face, sense of humor and the great coffee and sweets he contributed to the Fairland pool round table. He was a great guy and we will forever miss him. Dear Aunt Ruth,
We are so heart broken over the loss of Uncle Donald. We have so many wonderful memories of him from our trips to Maryland over the years and have spent the week reminicing about our trips to Ocean City and Bethany Beach. He always made sure we had the best spot on the beach and had everything set up waiting for the rest of us to wander down. Uncle Donald was such a gentle soul who loved all of us and never missed an opportunity to show us. We will miss him so much.

Our sincere condolences and prayers are with Don's family. I only knew Don briefly, through my wife, Retha and her swim group, but it was always a pleasure talking with him. May God keep your hearts in peace.

I know Don from our dealings between DP&D and my Dept., T&D. Don was a good guy, and I enjoyed working with him when he was in the Survey Section.
