Though it's been a long time since I spoke with Doug, I've known him for over 20 years. He was a wonderful friend and I shall remember him fondly. A favorite memory is his philosophy on skipping. He'd say "Skip! You can't help but smile when you skip." He was right. Happy eternal skipping, my friend.

Doug was always an excellent friend. The last time I spoke with him was around the first of October, and he was in great spirits. We talked on the phone for almost two hours. We had the kind of relationship where five or six months could go by between conversations or get togethers, and our conversation would pick up just as if we'd spoken the day before. He had a great mind, and it was ALWAYS full of crazy ideas! I will miss him very much.

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back with memories help comfort you. Lean on your friends for strength, and always remember how much you are cared and prayed for daily.

Doug and I both drove Thunderbirds to school...At Takoma Academy, Doug sat next to me for a Bible class held in the Band / Choir room. Every time the class slowed down, Doug would produce another sketch of a perpetual motion system. It was my job to de-bunk the latest innovation. There was no de-bunking the possibility of perpetual motion, and Doug would return the next day with another scheme, ranging from motors with big pulleys driving small-pulleyed generators, to things that rolled down long inclined planes and then up steeper, shorter inclines...I should have kept the drawings! Wishing courage to close friends and family.
