I can’t believe it has been nine years since Ed’s passing. There are many times throughout the year that I think of him and thank him for being a friend. Peary had many great people and he was one of the best.

I graduated from Peary in 1966---and wrestled for 3 seasons. Coach Burlas was a tough task master. I attribute my ability to survive 27 years in the Marine Corps directly to the toughness he taught me. Many times I thanked him for what he gave me---but I'll do it one more time. Thank you Coach---may God bless you as you blessed us.

Michael's eulogy of his father was beautiful. He described the coach, teacher and friend that I knew to a tee. Having been part of the '72 wrestling team it was nice to know how special it was to Coach Burlas.
May the family find comfort in knowing how much Ed was loved and admired. May he rest in peace knowing all of the lives he touched and made better.

Our memories of "Uncle Eddy" will always be of him smiling, giving Steve & I a rough time no matter what, his positive outlook and willingness to help as best as he could. We are so sorry for your loss but try to take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you all.

When asking Ed "How are you"? His response each time was "I'm just having a wonderful day". Ed's voice and positivity are forever etched in my mind.
My heartfelt condolences to the entire Burlas family.

Deepest condolences to the Burlas Family.
I graduated from Peary in 1974. Despite the years, I still can't call him "Ed." Mr. Burlas was a great coach and a wonderful mentor. In turbulent social times he was steady as a rock. It was only years later, raising my own son, that I began to fully appreciate the lessons learned and the wisdom he shared. Mr. Burlas was old school. As a coach he demanded hard word, honesty and integrity. He was a great coach. He was also a great mentor. My heartfelt sympathies to the Burlas family. And also, my heartfelt thanks for sharing him with me and the Peary family.

There are so many words that we would like to use for Ed but the couple that come to mind immediately are honesty and fairness. I was privledged to work with Ed for 16 years at Peary, have him as a friend, and a trusted business consultant. He will always be rembered as a person whose actions and deeds were the best. P.S. Let us know if there are Huskies in Heaven!

He was a wonderful uncle and friend. Being not much older than our oldest brother, he was always thought of as one of "us". However he was very proud to be an uncle and that was part of the title not to be forgotten! We have loved him so very much! There will always be a glimpse of him thru his children and a loving reminder thru our aunt, all of whom we love as well. He is greatly missed by many people without a doubt.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I graduated from Peary in '84 and grew up four houses from the school starting in 1972 when I was six. One memory I'd like to share...as little neighborhood kids, we snuck into every football game, wrestling match or basketball game that we wanted to see. He caught us many times. And not once did he kick us out. If we had the two dollars for admission, he'd make us buy a ticket. If we didn't, he'd let us stay anyway. My memories of him are fond and I am very grateful he was a fixture for all of us at Peary.

I never wrestled as a youth in WBC, so Coach Burlas was my very first wrestling coach in 10th grade. I learned the basics from him, and have great memories of the great state runner-up '71-72 team (best state wrestling team finish). Thanks, coach. You will be remembered by all of the wrestlers that you guided over the years.

A wonderful Dad. So blessed to have a dad who taught me to use my skills to the best of my ability, but more importantly, to care more about the love of the game and the respect of others than winning itself. You will always be apart of me dad. Wheather on the sporting field or off. Love you dad. Mark
