Beloved husband of Maria "Fiume" Ruiz; father of Fiume Ruiz, Rodolfo Ruiz and Alex (Jeanette) Ruiz; grandfather of Matthew Reisig, Alexandra Ruiz, Ricky Ruiz and Mia Ruiz. Also survived by his siblings, Estela Guilarte, Jose Ruiz and Maria Amalia DiCristina. Today, December 18th is a bittersweet day. My dad was sent to the hospital and was put in hospice. Lennon Ruiz was born on December 18, 2013. December 18 is also Alex & Jeanettes wedding anniversary.
Papi, still hard to believe that you went home to see our Heavenly Father 6 years ago.

Querido hermano Yiyo,
Todos los recuerdos que tengo tuyos son lindos e inolvidables, cuando me estabas enseñando a nadar en la playa de Juan Vicente donde pasábamos veranos en nuestra casita de playa, los chocolates que me traías de Holguin, donde estabas estudiando y venías a la casa de vacaciones o en fines de semanas, a las muchas manzanas acarameladas que me traías en las noches cuando regresabas a la casa después de visitar a Fiume.
Fuiste siempre un hijo, hermano, esposo, padre y abuelo excelente, por tu caracter amistoso y jovial ganastes muchas amistades que te querían y respetaban.
Mi hermano, siempre guardarás en mi corazón un lugar muy especial, descansa en paz juntó a nuestros padres disfrutando de la Gloria de Dios hasta que volvamos a encontrarnos.

Yiyo, it was great to see you enjoying yourself on your visit to our home in Cocoa for the occasion of the last shuttle . You always had a great time in Florida and I was trying to get you to move, at least partially, to our sunshine state. I almost got you convinced. But God had other plans for you and instead he called you to His home in heaven. There had been many goodbyes in the last few days, today your family paid tribute in a very honorable way to your life and the legacy that you leave behind - a love for family and appreciation for our time here on earth. I know that you are flying high in heaven and the farewells that we said today are not mean are not meant to be forever. Until we all will meet again.

To my family in Maryland,
Today will be such a tough day to say goodbye to Tio Yiyo. My heart is with each and everyone of you today. I wish that I could be there with you all. Tio's spirit will live through each and every one of us forever. He is at peace now in heaven and we all we be together again someday.
Each one of us have a special story to share about Tio, and those are the memories that will stick with us forever. Most importantly, we learned through his example how important family is. The special bond we all share helps us move through this tough time. I'm blessed to be a part of this family.
Tio, you were the heart and soul of our family in Maryland. A loving father and husband. The older brother to my mom. I know she looked up to him. A great uncle to Giselle and I. You always had this charm about you; very witty and warm hearted. You were always interested in how I was doing in sports: soccer, baseball, surfing...as well as relationships. Although you lived a long distance away, I always felt a genuine interest in my academics and sports from you.
God bless you Tio, I will miss you very much!

I will surely miss my uncle/friend, Yiyo. I am so grateful that we've stayed in touch, regardless of family circumstances. I'm grateful too that I came to visit with you a few times while you were sick. Dear Tio Yiyo:
I write to you in the first person because for me you've only left us in flesh. The most wonderful part of you is your spirit, and that remains with all of us who were blessed to be in your life. I never thanked you for the happiness you brought into my life – most vivid are the parties, the music, your dancing and your smile of happiness when our family gathered in celebration. But we had another bond very special and unique bond to only the two of us, that of sharing the wonders of business and self employment. Humans that we are, you and I had our not so positive moments but I realized many moons ago that those not so good moments were driven by something other than your true intensions. The positives were way bigger and most dear to me. Our endless talks about the wonders of heading a business, as we both did, are memories so big for me that I will hold them dear until I see you again – we will share more then.
As a mortal I miss you in selfishness, but in my heart I know you are in a much better place than I. I celebrate your life through the many memories we shared, and I pray God keeps you close to Him – there will be a whole lot more dancing in Heaven because of your presence. Te quiero mucho.

I met Esteban on only a couple of occasions - through Alex and Jeanette. He left a very strong impression on me - one of loving life. I will always remember him floating neck-deep in the waters of Hollywood Beach, a big smile on his face, enjoying a late-afternoon swim.
