On Friday, March 11, 2011, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Virginia Neuhauser; father of Charles J. Neuhauser, Linda A. Neuhauser, Frank W. Neuhauser, and Alan R. Neuhauser; grandfather of Christopher, Stephen, Edward, Elizabeth, and Laura. Relatives and friends may call at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd, Silver Spring on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. before the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. I never knew you, but just read about you today as being the first winner in the spelling bee. Sounds like you turned out to be an amazing man. May God Bless you and your family, I know you will be missed by so many.

Mrs. Neuhauser and family - I just read about Mr. Neuhaser's passing in the news. I participated in the National Spelling Bee in 1984, then worked on the Bee staff during college and fondly remember seeing his winning picture many times! I now live in Silver Spring with my family -- unaware that such a national treasure was living right here in our neighborhood. My deepest condolences to you all. May it bring you some comfort knowing that -- to many, many members of the "Bee family" -- he will be forever immortalized as a smiling 11-year-old.
