GEORGE DER CHIN
On Friday, February 18, 2011 of Bowie MD and formerly of Washington, DC. Beloved husband of Nancy Chin; father of Sean, Steven, Scott, Sylvia and Curtis; and grandfather of Emily. Also survived by mother, Donna and sisters, Carolyn and Marilyn. 54 years old, George died of heart failure. Funeral on Thursday, February 24, 2011, 10 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD 20901, 301-593-9500, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and lunch at Good Fortune Restaurant, 2646 University Blvd., W. Wheaton, MD 20902, 301-929-8818. Please omit flowers.

It was with great sadness that I learned of George's passing. George and I played with various local bands in the late 70s. He had a passion for music, and I always thought he was one of the smartest men I've ever met. In fact, it was George who inspired me to go back to school and earn my degree. My sincerest condolences go out to Nancy and all of his family.

I am sorry to hear of your unexpected loss. Some of my memories of George include him calling me "pee wee," as well as following him to watch his band practice. We also had good times playing pinball in College Park. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

I will miss my friend George very much. He had a child-like sense of fun and magic. He loved gadgets, computers, and grownup toys of all kinds. I used to love our trips to the funky flea markets around Baltimore. Being with George for me was like being a kid again. I will profoundly miss him. My God rest his beautiful soul.
