GERALDINE JOY WALSH
On Monday, April 9, 2012 at age 80 peacefully passed away. She was surrounded by her children, James William Walsh, Kathleen Maria Newton, Carolyn Joy Walsh and Mary Walsh Edwards. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Maria Reeder. Survived by sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Rod Faller; beloved grandchildren, Kimberly Evans, Stefan Walsh, Deborah Vandevort, Jennifer Walsh, Matthew Edwards, Nicholas Edwards and great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Callum Evans and Shane Vandevort. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Luther Rice Memorial Baptist Church, 801 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD on Thursday, April 12 from 3 to 4 p.m. where service will follow at 4 p.m. Interment private.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

Gerry Reeder was a classmate of mine all through Paul Junior High and Calvin Coolidge High Schools. She was a member of my CCHS Class of 1950. I was very saddened to read of her passing away. I trust that her family will understand and appreciate when I say that Gerry was such a cute and lovely young girl and that I always admired her so very much "from afar." Many times I wanted to ask her "to go out on a date with me", but I was far too shy back in those days. The old saying is so true: "Faint heart never won fair maiden!" I send my love and our wonderful memories from the "old days" to you, Gerry, and I wish you well on your journey to God's Heaven. Tom Sheelor
