To the Zincke family and friends,
I loved Herb's sense of humor! My husband,
son, my elderly mother and myself, took Herb to an air show one day. It was a humid, sweltering, 95° day. I asked Herb, "What is the Air Force Motto"? He replied, "I don't know, drop them bombs"? I miss Herb so much, along with all his love and laughter he gave to us! We will never forget your sacrifice and service for us and this wonderful country!
RIP, Herb.

To the Zincke family,
I am deeply sorrowed by the loss of one of my dearest friend's, Herbert L. Zincke. Herb and I worked together at Vitro in Rockville, MD in the early 1980's. Having lost my father at age 3-1/2, Herb was like a father to me. Had my father lived, they would have been the same age. We had a father/daughter relationship that meant the world to both of us. I would visit him periodically at his home/or take him to lunch. The stories he told were mesmerizing, as if you were almost there. In Herbs mid 70's my family and I (including my mother, who was only one year younger than Herb) took him to an Air Show in Frederick, MD. Herb was amazing! It was an 85-90 degree day, and HE led ME on a journey to see all the old military planes. What a trooper, we had a blast! Herb had the most tenacious love for life that I have ever witnessed in any human being. My husband and son adored him. God bless your family and friends, we have lost a wonderful part of our lives. God bless you Herb, may you rest in peace. We love you and will miss you greatly. Patty, Buzzy and Robby Denell.

To the Zincke family,
My father Edward Lubiewski was a POW at Kawasaki 2B with Herb. After the war, I believe they co-owned a house in Riverside, CA. Born Dec 9.1948, that was my first home. I remember occasional trips to Sunnymeade, Ca to vist Herb's Army Surplus. Now I have begun in earnest to patch together the POW story my father never shared with me, but was recorded in Herb's book. Thank you, Herb! Norma Lubeck, COL, MC, USAR Seattle, WA

To the Zincke family,
My father Edward Lubiewski (19th BG SQ 14) was a POW at Kawasaki 2B with Herb. After the war, I believe they co-owned a house in Riverside, CA. Born Dec 9,1948, that was my and my sister's first home. I remember occasional trips to Sunnymeade, CA to visit Herb's Army Surplus. Now I have begun in earnest to patch together the POW story my father never shared with me, but was recorded in Herb's book chronicling the horrific account of Bataan and POW imprisonment. Thank you, Herb for bringing me closer to the battered young Soldier from Chicago who was my father. Norma Lubeck, COL, MC, USAR Seattle, WA
