Mr. Kranking was one of my favorite teachers. With a quick wit and an easy smile he was lovingly known as the banana man. We were in “Room 222”, which also happened to be the name of the popular TV show at the time. He was a good teacher who had fun with the students and treated them with respect. He’ll never be forgotten by this math student.

I fondly remember Mr Kranking as my math teacher in 1976 in rm 222 of Northwood High School. We called him "Mr. Banana Man" and we had alot of fun in his class. He used to play imaginary golf like Johnny Carson did while we did our seated assignments. Mr. Kranking will be remembered fondly by many of his students. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am just so sad to learn that Jim has passed on. He was such a upbeat and caring presence at all the Potomac Valley Watercolorist banquets which he goodnaturedly attended with Margaret.
Love and Hugs to Margaret and the rest of his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. I will always remember our McDonalds visits after mass at OLOL and the kindness both Mr and Mrs Kranking showed my Grandmother.

I was in Mr.Kranking's infamous 1968 math class. It was our very special class that presented him with the yellow, wooden "Flying Fickled Banana of Fate" (made by Jim Martin) which he proudly displayed for many years in the front of the class room. Mr. Kranking will always be remembered fondly by his math students. He was funny, patient and tolerant, witty and an amazing teacher. He taught me to love geometry. He also sent me to Mr. Harold Horn's office, but I deserved it. Mr. Kranking was the best Math teacher that anyone could ever have. My condolences to the family and friends.
Darlene (Dichter) Morning, and on behalf the 1968 Math class.

Mr Kranking was the best math teacher I ever had (1977-78) and I HATED math! He made it fun and interesting. Having a joke of the day and a joke of the week didn't hurt!! Only math teacher I ever remember!! My thoughts and prayers are with the Kranking family during this time!

We love the entire Kranking family produced by Jim and Peggy. His faithfulness to the Church and to his family will be a standard by which we will measure ourselves. He will be missed for the rest of our lives. His wonderful sense of humor and godly character will be in our hearts as a special gift from the Lord. Thank you Lord for Jim! He endured until the end, with grace and love for his beloveds.
