My Dearest Jim, I love you just as much today as I did on May 1, 1965, forty eight years ago. We have been through so much together, we have loved each other, fought with each other, but we always respected each other.
The greatest gift God gave us is our four children and four grandchildren. They always were and are the joy of our lives. Our children are now adults with their own families, we both are so proud of them all. Our grandchildren are on their way to adulthood. I know they will follow in your footsteps and be kind and helpful to all.
We have laughed and cried together so many times. You are now in heaven and will be with us each and everyday. I loved you yesterday, I love you today and I will love you tomorrow. Someday I will join you and we will be together once again. You will always be with me and your love will keep me strong for our family.
Jimmmmm, I love you. Your wife Linda

Papa -
You have always been the strongest man I know. I will never forget the times we shared, even when you were yelling at me for who knows what. I will still watch Jeopardy, and I'll try to beat you but I know I will lose. Or the time we drove 8 hours to Boston, listening to golf (I was really listening to you yell at traffic), and counting license plate numbers which I lost in that, too. Thank you for everything you've given me, your words of advice, to the history facts that I never understood. You will always remain a hero in my heart. I know you'll continue to watch over me, and lead me down the right path. Be good up there!! I love you, and I will see you again.

Since the first time we met you at Post 268 you always put a smile on our faces. You always seemed bigger than life to us. Maybe it was because you always made everyone feel
at home, were always helping someone, or just making us laugh. You will always be a part of us and will be greatly missed. God bless your family. Until we meet again. Love, Vicky & Bill

Dear Linda and Sarkisian Family: We are so very sorry to hear about Blackie's passing. What a great loss to us all !! Unfortunately, Mike was just told about this sad event today, at the Executive Officer's meeting. If we had known, he would have definitely paid his respects last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Much love from Lisa, Mike, and Jady Shaw

I remember Jim Sarkisian walking through the corridors of FEMA Headquarters. He worked in my division for about a year in 2002-2003 before the agency became part of DHS. My working with him was brief; the time has passed and it's all a blur now, but I do recall him being friendly, always humming a tune, and easy to work with. May he rest in peace in the presence of the Lord, and I pray peace and strength from Jesus Christ our Lord for all the family (John 14:27).

Jim,
When I was dating Connie, people would say to me, "your crazy, dating one of Blackies daughters, are you nuts?" I remember asking you for Connie's hand in marriage, and you said, "what about the rest of her?" For 26 years you have been my friend, my father in law,and a big influence on how I raise your Grandsons. I will miss our good hearted Army/Navy banter, and collecting on our bet every year when Navy wins.Thank you for raising the best person in the world and allowing me to marry her. We will both miss you.

Several years ago “Blackie” as we called him welcomed my wife and I to the American Legion Post 268 in Wheaton, Maryland. Blackie was a Past Commander of Post 268 and a constant volunteer. He made Jill and I feel at home with his good humor and wit. On Friday nights Blackie and his lovely wife Linda helped with the serving of good food to our local veterans and their guests. He also helped in serving many lunches to veterans at Post 268. This was a great man who always gave of himself by volunteering to help others. He always was helping others in need. Even when he had his own health problems Blackie with his oxygen tank went to New Jersey to assist others in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The highest complement he paid to me was at the American Legion Post one Friday night dinner where I was a cook for a short period of time Blackie said Michael I want two of your lasagna dinners to go. Blackie possessed that rare combination of being smart, handsome funny, charming and he was always looking out for the other guy. May God bless you James W. Sarkisian and your family in this time of sorrow.

To Linda & family . We are so sorry for your loss. Since we have been out here in South Dakota , we always wondered whenever FEMA was on a job,if Blackie was there. We knew he would get the job done. He was always so fun at the Legion and liked to tease me about my tomato beer. He called me "Red Rooster" from then on. Mike always enjoyed having conversations with him . He will be greatly missed in many ways.

All of us at the Wheaton American Legion Post 268 will miss Your dedication to making our Legion Post outstanding. You were a friend to everybody and dedicated your time and energy to whatever needed to be done. Plus the fact that you were a master chef. Thanks also for your duties as Chaplain. The list is long remembering your service to our Post. Thanks Blackie from all of us.

Daddy-
To the one who was always there for us, no matter what...even in our teenage years, and we didn't make it easy for you. Thank you for the spelling tests, geography lessons, and state capital quizes we had to endure on long car trips. I am the person I am today because of you (hey, you can re-use that, don't throw it away!). Just to clear the air, it wasn't me that broke into our piggy banks and raided the candy store, and Kelly swears it wasn't her. That leaves....'V'... You have been through so much in the last few years, I look up to you for your strength and courage. You will be forever in my heart and on my mind. My heart aches for our loss. Heaven gained a true angel. I will love you forever!

Papa-
I remember coming over and immediately watch whatever sports game was on with you. We always would talk about what is happening in the world of sports. We would always mess with each other about the Yankees and Red Sox. Watching sportscenter and talk about the main stories in sports. I love you Papa, so much.
Love,

Mr. Sarkisian was a great grandfather, father, uncle and so forth. He was a symbol of strength and hardwork (he would work even when he could barely walk and breathe!). He perpetually put others before himself and up until his death he didn't want to burden family members by letting them know that he knew his time was fast-approaching. He loved his family, his friends, everyone at the legion, his coworkers and everyone he came in contact with on a daily basis. His personality was infectious and everyone who knew him could attest to everything I've said. He will be missed but we are all thankfully to have been a part of his life and we are also thankful for the fact that he is no longer suffering.

Daddy,
You have always been there for me no matter what. You were the best father that anyone could ever ask for. You made me laugh, smile, and you never ceased to amaze me. I will never forget or regret the way we spent our last time together. Watching Jeopardy and competing against each other (I lost terribly) and watching your Redsox win. I will never forget you or the knowledge and life lessons you passed down to me. Not a day will go by that i will think of you or all the things you did for me. This whole family was built around you and your strength. I will miss you and hold you with me forever, and i know you'll be looking down on us. I love you and will never forget you.
Love

Dad,you truly were like my own father. You have treated me like your own daughter. There was never a day that went by that you didn't call to check on us or see if we're okay. No matter what you went through you always had wisdom, encouragement, support, love and hope. I have never in my life met a man who was so strong, caring, and loving. I know everyone will miss you forever. In our hearts we will never get through this without you, but we know one day we will all meet again. We love you! I am very lucky to have met you and had you in my life. Thank you for being the best father and friend anyone could only dream to have. I love you! I miss you!

The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.P.S." I'll call you tomorrow "

To my Pops, my hero; I love you and miss you so much already. You are the rock of this family and the strongest most brave man in the world. I want to thank you for all your dedication and love to all of us. Even in your weakest times; you put us all first, always worrying about us and never yourself. The most dedicated Papa to your grandchildren with whom your memory and love they will always carry. I miss you Pops, I know you are watching down over us all; I so wish I could give you one more hug.
