JEAN MARLENE PATTON YANCEY
On Friday, December 16, 2011, of Adelphi, MD. Beloved wife of Charles Yancey; mother of Sari Caldwell and Kareem Yancey; grandmother of Christina Segura, Charlene Hernandez, Jeannine Caldwell; great grandmother of Cayden, Caiya, Malakai and Joshua. Also survived by her sister Therrelle Scott; her sister-in-law Evelyn Jones and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Tuesday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m, and on Wednesday, December 21, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 9701 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD, from 10 to 11 a.m.; where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment George Washington Cemetery. God bless Charles and family. I met Jean in 1979 at the Bureau of Standards, Technology Building 225. Jean was a very compassionate, kind and a beautiful person. She always had time to listen to me and indeed told me the truth. Thanks. Be blessed and I know you will have a successful journey to the meet the Lord. No more pain and no more worry. Love.

I met Jean in 1967, when I was 21 yrs old. She mentored me and absolutely transformed me while we both worked at HUD. She was the most impactful person in my life. She was an outstanding example of how to deal successfully within the system. I cherish the gift of her presence in my life.
