JOHN CHARLES LAUX "Lum" (Age 53)
Suddenly on Saturday, February 23, 2013, of North Bethesda, MD. Beloved husband for 26 years of Mary Battista Laux; father of Molli, Matthew and Madeline Laux; brother of Jim (Debbie) Laux, Dan Laux and Charlie Widmark; son of the late James and Roberta Laux. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many loving family and friends. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD, on Thursday, February 28, at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. John was a great guy and I loved to tease him about his shoes especially the saddle shoes and bucks. He brought a lot of passion to his work and for the cause that Hologic represents. I believe that there are angels that escape from the heavens and live among us. These special angels are often called back all too early to their rightful place in heaven, because they have fulfilled their calling here on earth. Although I have not seen John since I moved away from Washington D.C. several years ago, I consider that he was one of these special angels who was loved by all who knew him because of his good nature, his deep sense of family, friendship and loyalty, and his innate good humor. There are no words of solace I can give at this time for a loss that is devastating on so many levels. M name is Chris Higgins and I met John (Lum)in or about 1974-1975 as a bunch of us got together to play our annual softball games everywhere around Chevy Chase and DeChantel areas and other gatherings. He was a character to hang out with and a very pleasant person to talk to. His sense of humor added to the great games and times at nights we all had together. He will greatly be missed by everybody...God bless his family and realtives and friends.

I am so sad to hear about John. Although I hung out with him only a couple of times, I feel like I really know him because of how he treated Tracy. He was always there to pick her up, help her out, motivate her and congratulate her.
