On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of 65 years to Mavis M. Hass; father of Robert (Kathleen) Hass and Karen (Paul) Endress; grandfather of Robert Hass Jr., Maggie Finke, Maureen Maurano, Katie Fullenkamp, Erin Hass, Michael Hass and Lisa Endress; great-grandfather of Noella, Emerson, Meghan, Claire, Jocelyn, Sydney, and Isabella. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, December 16, 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial Service will be celebrated at the Chapel at Riderwood Village, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904 on Monday, December 17, at 2:30 p.m. Private Interment George Washington Cemetery. John was a good friend of my parents, Jack and Ruth McConnell and now they can be together again. I have fond memories of him building an addition to our home in Silver Spring and of me roller skating with Robert in the Hass's basement 50+ years ago. Mavis and family, my condolences to you all.

John was like another father to me and I will miss seeing him at the LUNCH BUNCH gatherings. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mavis and all the wonderful family members who will be missing him this Christmas.
