I will always remember John as a kind, gentle, never a cross word, always a youthful and sunny disposition, and very talented person. I'm privileged to have heard him sing at the Temple. His song lives on in his beautiful daughters.

In life's brief course we experience that which there simply are not enough words, and for others, no words are necessary. I believe John has reached out & taken the hand of God into his own, and is free from the bondage of his physical pain...and knows peace.

Hey, brother. For awhile it was just Maureen, you and me, and I still have memories of the three of us on Okinawa the first time and then Eta Jima after that. I just turned 62, so am keeping 60 years of memory of you and Maureen. Of us three little Mickey Mouse Club members, I'm the only one left, maintaining the memory of the three of us sitting in front of the tv wearing our plastic mouse ears. That was in 1954-55. Now, it's all along the watchtower with only one watchman; as Jimi Hendrix wrote in another of his songs, "Well, it's too bad that our friends can't be with us today." Remember when I took you and your date to see Jimi in D.C. in spring 1968? You didn't have your license yet. Hendrix, you reported after the concert, was awesome; I think you said that he had set his guitar (or was it his hair?) on fire. Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end. Faulkner was right, though--"The past isn't dead. It isn't even past."

your sister, kathy

It's impossible for me to put into words how much I already miss you and it's only been a little over a week.. All I want is to see your name pop up on my caller id during the day while I'm at work so I can hear your voice. I miss it so so much already daddy all I have are the voicemails you left me to keep me comforted when all I want is one more phone call with you or to get to see you one more time. You gave so much to so many in your short 60 years here. You were an unbelievably talented man who at times was extremely misunderstood by everyone but the music you made and the love you created is my lifeblood. Thank you for all the good and all the bad. I am a strong woman who grew up fast but appreciate all I've gained from the experiences in life we shared together. I can't wait to meet you in my next life. I love you so much dad. Paris Mann. I will think of you every day in only a positive light. Xo
