Dear Patty, Pete and Julie,

I just learned today from my mother about your Mom.

Patty, during our childhood I have many happy memories of times spent in your home with your Mom who was one of the warmest, most loving mothers any child could hope for.

I know you will miss her but hope that you will find joy and comfort in her memory. I know I will.

She was a blessing to us all.

Will my deepest sympathy,

To the Gragnani children, Patricia, Peter and Julie:

I have not seen you in so many years that I would be surprised if you even remember me, but I grew up around the corner from you on Adams Drive. I am so sorry to hear that your beloved mother has passed away. What can you say about the nicest, kindest person that you ever met?

Back when we were kids, none of our families had any money, but when I had nothing, do you know who used to give me some money so I could buy something from the ice cream man? Your incandescently wonderful mother—Julia Gragnani. Your mother always treated all the children in the neighborhood as though they were her own children. We were all so incredibly lucky to grow up on the same block with the great Gragnani family.

The American Indians believe that you never really die as long as somebody remembers you, and Patricia, Peter and Julie, your mother will live forever in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
