I have such fond memories of Kathy, from when we were all growing up on Crispin Way. She was always smiling and joking...a joy to be around! What a blessing she was to all who knew her. God bless her family at this difficult time, and may we all rest assured, "Absent from the body, present with the Lord", she is safe, happy and at peace!

I will always have such fond and sweet memories of Kathy during my high school years in Birmingham as her sister Michele was and remains a dear friend. When I think of Kathy I picture a sweet smile, loyal friend and sister, hard worker and always displaying actions of unconditional love. I was always so in awe of Kathy's role in the Hefferly family and how everyone interacted with her and how she with them. I loved Kathy's wit and charm and at times sassiness!:) Kathy is a role model we should all aspire to be. God Bless you Kathy and may you rest and flourish even further in Heaven. We all love you and your dear family and will never forget you!

I had the profound pleasure of working with Kathy for many years at Olive Garden. She was a ray of sunshine and always brightened my day. She loved her job and loved the people with whom she worked. She got to know our regulars and would often be "caught" away from her work visiting with people she knew. My children would love to see Kathy when they came to visit me in the restaurant. Kathy always remembered to give me hand written cards (Many of which I have saved) on special holidays. When Kathy moved back to Maryland we remained in touch. I have so many beautiful memories of Kathy and her family. She truly was a gift from God and though she will be sorely missed, her memory remains in the hearts of all who knew her. Please recite the following prayer for Kathy -
"Oh God, of all spirits and all flesh, who have destroyed death, overcome the devil and given life to the world, grant O Lord to the soul of your servant Kathy who has departed this life; that she may rest in a place of light, a place of peace and a place of happiness, where there is no pain, no grief and no sighing. And since Thou art a gracious God and the Lover of mankind, forgive her every sin she has committed by thought, word or deed for there is not a man who lives without sin. Thou alone are without sin and Thy righteousness is everlasting and Thy word is true. Thou art the resurrection, the Life and the Repose of Thy departed servant Kathy and to Thee belongs glory, together with Thine Eternal Father and Thine all heavenly, good and life giving spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages, Amen. May God rest Kathy's soul in a place where there is no pain, no grief and no sighing, but everlasting life."

What an incredible woman who overcame life's obstacles and triumphed. She will be missed. I wish all of you comfort in this time of sorrow. I miss those old baseball games in the middle of the street.
