Jim Fayard
November 16, 2010
I want to offer my condolences for Uncle LeRoy. Though we haven't met, Larry and Trish (deceased) Fayard are my parents. In October of 1989, I was enlisted in the US Coast Guard and got married in VA where he and Aunt Marge attended. As a young lad, just being in the US Coast Guard a year, your father gave me an inspirational talk that fueled me to charge on and complete 22 years of active duty service. One saying that he said to me that has always stuck in my head in which I used all the time in the US Coast Guard; when we were getting ready to change our clothes for the wedding, your Dad looked at me and said "Time to Change the Canvas." This meant changing into his US Coast Guard uniform. Throughout my career, I used to tell my shipmates "Time to Change the Canvas." His inspirational talk to me in my young US Coast Guard career was a major part in me getting past my hump that allowed me to succeed.
Uncle LeRoy, Fair Winds and Following Seas.
My prayers are with you and the extended family. God Bless.
Sincerely,
Jim Fayard
