I found a welcoming elderly woman every Friday when I deliver Meals On Wheels (College Park) to her. She allows me in and occasionally had a brief chat with her. I have good memories of her all those Fridays I saw her over the years I delivered MOW. Peace and Joy to her in Heaven.

I enjoyed Mrs Shannon's telephone call so much. She having been told how much my days were spent on my boat, and fishing the Chesapeake Bay, always called me "Captain." She had a way of saying it that always made me smile. Mrs Shannon used to call to speak with my wife, Crystal, and sometime, I was fortunate enough to answer the phone. What a nice and wonderful person she was.

My deep condolences to Dr. Kevin(Jennifer) and family, and to all the other family members of Mrs. Shannon. I will miss seeing her Fridays when I deliver to her, our familiar small talk (mostly about our health: my bad back, her bad knee), before I bid her 'see you next time'. I missed her today (9/20/2013) when I learned she has gone to heaven. I will miss her from now on, not just on Fridays.

Dear Carol, Kevin and Faith,
Your Mom was such a good friend, someone you could talk to when you needed a lift. I will always remember the long chats we had about times long gone. She was such a historian. We will all miss her but she is in a much better place now. Take comfort in that.

My dear Aunt Marcia,
I will always remember you as a model of courage, faith and resilience.
What a brave soul you were (at age 16?) boarding that train to a new and unseen life in DC. You had clothes sewn for you by Aunt Phyllis, $50 from her, and a dream to find your own path.
What a remarkably bright and competent professional you became, with Presidents praising you for your fine work.
The deeper praise, however, is the enduring love of your children and their children and of all of us who had the blessing of knowing you.
May you be free of all suffering as you are joyously welcomed home.
With loving gratitude,
Your niece

For the many decades that I have known Mrs. Shannon (I could never call her Marcia), she was a true example of love and caring. How fortunate I am to have known her. My prayers of sympathy go to Carol, Kevin and all who had the opportunity to enjoy her.
