DEMPSEY MARIANNE K. DEMPSEY (Age 92) On Sunday, August 22, 2010, of Bethesda, MD. Beloved wife of the late William J. Dempsey; mother of Dru (Brad Ross), Della (John Conroy), Padraic (Mary), Justin, Jonathan (Barbara), Rosie (Donald Davidson), Jennifer (Phil Chidlaw) and the late William, Jr. "Willie" and Christina "Tina" Dempsey. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Hunter, Joshua, William III, Allison, Claire, Devin, Roxane, and Matilda, and a great grandson, Griffin. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking) Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Historic Church, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910 on Saturday, August 28 at 12 noon. You three sisters who gave today's eulogies painted a vivid picture of your mother and her colorful character. The funeral was a wonderful tribute to Mrs. Dempsey. The hundred yard walk from the church to the grave site with the bagpipe escort was a poignant moment. Singing with the guitarist around the grave was a touch I haven't seen before today. Again, the funeral was a terrific tribute to your mother.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Dempsey family... Mrs. Dempsey was a second mother to me when I first knew her in Pakistan almost 50 years ago. sending love.
