My Dear Brother Michael,
I loved when you took me, for the first time, to Mr. and Mrs. Prince's Farm on the Shenandoah River. You took me (I should say dragged me) out to the middle of the river, and almost drowned me – but it was more than well worth it. I saw “The River” through your eyes, the smell of the river, the view of the mountains from all angles, the crystal blue sparkling water, the sound of the river rushing past me was deafening. I lost all sense of time and felt like I was in heaven! If I could have, I would have stayed in that spot in the middle of the river forever!
I loved when you showed me how to catch hellgrammites for bait – so that we (you) would be able to catch “the big one”! I held the net downstream, you picked up the rocks upstream – we had such fun!
I loved when you invited me to come stay with you in your warm and inviting home in Maryland City. I bought you your first real set of pots and pans, a full 4 piece dinner set and napkins, for 4 – WOW you loved those (I had no idea that stuff like that impressed you). Maybe you were just being kind, but thank you for being wow'ed!
I loved your big smile when I bought that Christmas Wreath that lit up when you plugged it in. You proudly displayed that in your picture window for all to see. And I thought you didn't “like” Christmas. That wreath followed you to your new home, which made me feel special!
I loved when you called me right after my first grandchild was born, and you called me Grandma
I loved that you loved all my children, and I loved that they called you “Uncle Dimples”. Boy that would bring a big smile to your face and I loved that
I loved when you nicknamed me “Tumbles Two”
I loved when you took me to the Laurel Race Track and showed me how to play the horses. I never understood the whole thing, but I loved being with you
I love, I love, I love you. I will miss you terribly. May you now be at peace, feel no pain, and you must know that you will always be close by me – in my heart. ~ Kathy

I miss you so much, my love.
Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.

I only know Michael through the love of his mother, my dearest friend. I would see her face light up and the biggest smile whenever she talked about "Dimples". My heart breaks for Patti and Michael's family and friends. The only gift I can give you is my prayers. Jude Ann

To my old friend from Catholic Grade School and beyond. I remember the Alaska Ave alley very well. We were from two big Irish Families, a common demographic at the recently closed St. Michaels School in Silver Spring. Mike was always that friendly person that everyone liked. He always had a smile that would disarm even the strictist yet caring nun......you were universally loved and will be missed by everyone who knew you..

I love you uncle. You were always there for us and my mom. I still remember the blue Schwinn you got me for christmas when I was 13. You tied it to a string and ran the string all the way around the yard into the house all the way to my bed room, and I had to follow the string all the way outside to the backyard to find my present. Everything was a game or a joke to you. That was just the type of uncle you were.... Always playing pranks on your nieces and nephews, and even kept up with the latest street slang so you could show us you were still "down with the homies"....lol. Well I am glad you were the way you were and always kept your big kid spirit in life. I will remember you in this way. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Michael, Michael Motorcycle...that was our nickname for little Michael. I spent lots of time chasing after Michael in the alley on Alaska Avenue and, he was fast as lightening, and when I caught him he would flash that million dollar smile. God bless.
