On Wednesday, December 15, 2010, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite "Peggy" Sandstrom; father of Suzanne (Henry P., Jr.) Pramov and Vallary (Samuel A.) Maxey; grandfather of Allison (Alexander) Mast, Brian A. and Sean M. Pramov and Christopher S. Maxey; great-grandfather of Cody and Annabelle Mast. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday, December 20, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Colesville Road (at Highland Dr.), Silver Spring, MD, 10 to 11 a.m. where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. We will miss Mr. Sandstrom at Renaissance Gardens. He was a faithful attender at our church services, and the Eucharistic Ministers from Olivet Episcopal send their condolences. May he rest in light perpetual.

To Vallary and Suzanne and your families: We truly loved Bob especially after our mother passed and the two Bobs formed a wonderful friendship. Sorry to have missed the funeral; did not learn of his passing until today. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Bob Standstrom was an amazing guy, a patriot and a "founding" member of the the "greatest Generation" in WWII. When Hank and Sue first introduced me to him when we were in college, he was a towering and somewhat intimidating figure of a man. But over the years, we grew to know him as a wonderful and dedicated father and grandfather and a good friend. He will be missed by us all. John and Renee Hoffman
