ROBERT VAUGHN AUTRY (Age 87) A TRUE RENAISSANCE MAN
Bonvivant, Raconteur Extraordinaire, Pugilist, Quipster, Comedian, Artist, Song Stylist, Drummer, Diver, Wordsmith, Poet, Patriot, Gentleman and Scholar Softly, sweetly, ever so lovingly, cradled in God's almighty arms on Monday, May 14, Sir Bob jettisoned planet Earth to accept his latest avocation in the Celestial Honor Guard. There he is, reuniting with his perpetual sweetheart and soulmate, Barbara (nee Erxelben), his sainted and adored mother, Molly (nee McCaffrey) and his big brother, Gerald. He bids fond farewells to his most dear and favorite cousins, Carol DeCosta and Paul Hinchcliffe, his nieces, Victoria Schneider and Sharon Wells and all the rest of his kith "n kin and extended family. From the heavens, Bob mellifluously croons "I'll Be Seeing You!" to his multitude of true friends (old and new) from the ol' Rocketville neighborhood, the Twinbrook American Legion (Post #86), the Elks #15 in Rockville, his beloved Giant Food Family, all the fantastic folks at The Stein Room (specifically the wonderful, ribald, raucous and most endearing PATRONS as well as the warm, kind, gracious, caring and genuinely loving STAFF so capably led by Marcy, Dolly and Lily) and to all of his many other pals and gals in and around Leisure World and the greater Silver City metro area. So, to one and all he reprises "SO LONG and MAY GOD BLESS YOU!" I'LL SEE YA DOWN THE ROAD!!" Relatives and friends may visit Bob from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, May 17 at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD 20901 (Valet Parking). A funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD 20906 on Friday, May 18 at 11 a.m. with viewing at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Bob, you seemed like a great man. I only met you once but spoke to you over the phone many times the past few years. Thank you for sharing stories of my grandfather during World War Two. I appreciate your service to this nation and our unique friendship. God bless you Bob.

My dear sweet Bob, there is a special place in my heart for you. We surely shared some good times traveling the Cape and other adventures covering N.E. in my quest for my "roots". Good times, good friends.....and look forward to the day when "I see you down the road!"

Bob was my neighbor when I was growing up in Rockville. Bob and Barbara were very good to us kids and my dad when we lost our mom in 1970 and Bob was great when dad passed in 1994. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
