ROBERT VINCENT SLOAN
Robert Vincent Sloan, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on September 10, 2013 at the age of 79. Bob was born in Syracuse, NY and attended high school at the Christian Brothers Academy there. He was a graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse and began studying for his law degree at Georgetown University and received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore. He began his legal career working at the U.S. Patent Office in Washington, DC for 10 years and then worked at the law firm of Sughrue Mion for 32 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mary Grace; his four sons Tod (Mary, wife), Kevin (Cecilia, wife), Brian and Tim; and his seven grandchildren Katie, Emmett, Conor, Brendan, Owen, Mathew and Abigail. As a man of deep faith, he was a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish in Kensington, MD for 53 years where he served as a lay minister of the Eucharist, a reader at church services and president of the Parish Council. Friends, relatives and business associates are invited to join the family in celebration of Bob's life at Holy Redeemer Church,9705 Summit Avenue, Kensington, Maryland at 11 a.m. Monday, September 16. A wake will be held at the same locationfrom 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 15. We've known Bob, Mary Grace, and their children since February 1969 when we moved from Milwaukee to Kensington, MD and Holy Redeemer parish. Several of our children were classmates of the Sloan's sons, and we enjoyed ice-skating parties Bob and Mary Grace arranged and parties at their home.
Bob was avery good man, a devout Catholic, and always ready to greet one with a smile and to be of help in any way he could.
We moved from our beloved Kensington home in 2006 and since then have lived at Riderwood Village, a community of almost 2800 people who are retired or semi-retired but we miss our Holy Redeemer friemds and other neighbors.

Mary Grace and family, I am so saddened to learn about Bob. I ache for you. He was such a great man who loved his family so much. We loved seeing him in Syracuse and at Marywood Reunions. Hang in there.
