ROMAN J. PIENTA, Ph.D (Age 81)
On Sunday, August 5, 2012, of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of Phyllis A. Pienta; father of Lenore Pienta (Kurt Borkman), Susan Pienta (Ashraf Afifi) and Michael Pienta (Nicole dePaschalis); grandfather of Alex, Emily and Daniel Afifi, Sophia and Jake Pienta and Johannes, Annegret and Juergen Borkman. Also survived by many loving family members and friends. Dr. Pienta was an avid photographer and world traveler. Relatives and friends may call at St. Patrick's Church, Norbeck & Muncaster Mill Roads, Rockville, MD, Friday, August 10, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Uncle Roman loved photography and always seemed to have his camera with him just in case he wanted to take a picture. And he took a lot of them which he shared with us.

Uncle Roman always liked to Joke around with us and make us laugh. We always loved and enjoyed seeing all the pictures he would take. It's hard to believe a year has gone by all ready, may our good Lord be with you and your family always. May he continue to rest in peace and always be in your hearts! We hope you are all doing well as we are?

Dear Phyllis and family,
Please accept our heartfelt sympathies on your deep loss. Roman was a very dear friend and mentor. He was caring, loving and generous to all. He made great contributions to society through his scientific research and was a wonderful teacher. His humor, warm personality, his wisdom and love of life and family and friends will be cherished forever. Hope these memories will give some solace as you struggle through your profound grief.
