When Janie (Sheila Spieler) sat at her desk awaiting to greet visitors to the Rectory at Our Lady of Mercy, I know she would be praying for the last visitor.
As she filed notes from the Pastor or checked the Staff's calendar, she would be praying for the next person(s) to happily interrupt her work. Often, the next would be me.
Now, with all the angels and saints, Janie is praying for all of us.

My deepest sympathy to your family for the loss of your wife and mother. In addition to being a close friend to my mother, she was wonderfully supportive of me as a teen ager. Then again, during the years my mother was sick she reached out to offer her support and motivation. During that time, she also provided me advice on how to best support my mother. She was a always patient and generous with her time and ear. I take some comfort in knowing my mother has a good friend in heaven with her now and they are both free of their illness and pain. I am sorry you will be without her in your daily lives.
My father also asked that I send his sympathy; he is no longer able to write himself.

Janie worked hard to keep the Rectory at Our Lady of Mercy Parish operating smoothly. She will be missed; her prayer list (even in heaven) is a long one. You and I are on it; praise be to God! Love to the family from Anne Martinez.
