WALTER J. BARRY, SR. (Age 91)
On Thursday, January 10, 2013, of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of the late Betty K. Barry; father of Sharon Barry, John (Terry) Barry, Walter (Barbara) Barry, Jr. and the late Patrick Barry; grandfather of John (Denise) Barry, II, Joseph Barry, Christopher Ziegler and Edward Skabisky. Walter served as Chief Financial Officer at Prince George's County Hospitals Systems for 25 years. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Shrine of St. Jude, 12701 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD, on Monday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. He was a true professional with high standards not only for himself, but for all who worked for him. He was Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer of a large multi hospital system. He was my friend and a great asset to me as the Director of the hospital system. He was one of a kind.

Walter was a friend and colleague who was a true professional in his field. We worked together for several years and I miss his wise counsel . Our friendship was special and I miss our telephone chats after he retired.

Walt was a true professional who possessed integrity, loyalty and love for his family. Walt and I worked together in the late 70s and 80s and as Comptroller for the Prince George's County Hospital System performed with great distinction. The system has not operated without county or state subsidies since that time.
