WILLIAM BOYD Obituary


Lt Col WILLIAM B. BOYD, USAF (Ret.)  
Of Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, MD and formerly of Potomac, MD and Greenville, SC, died on October 11, 2012 at Holy Cross Hospital from complications due to a stroke. Lt Col Boyd was a graduate of Clemson University and received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. Lt Col Boyd served as a senior pilot in the Army Air Corps flying B-24 aircraft during World War II and as an instructor pilot when recalled for the Korean War. Upon retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Lt Col Boyd continued to serve his country as an aerospace engineer and Chief of the Aerodynamic Weapons Branch for the Defense Intelligence Agency for 20 years. Lt Col Boyd leaves behind his loving wife Frances Baird Boyd of Silver Spring; daughters Barbara Boyd of Manassas, VA and Margaret Boyd Wolf of Arlington, VA; grandchildren Olivia, Connor and Alexandra Wolf; sister Claire Weston of Greenwood, SC; and brothers Fleming Boyd of Atlanta, GA and Robert Boyd of Granbury, TX. A memorial service will be held at the Riderwood Village Chapel, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904 on Tuesday, October 16 at 11 a.m.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the loss of your husband. I was a coworker of Bill at the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was always such a kind and gentle person to work with. Again I am so sorry for your loss.
