William Boteler Obituary


  
WILLIAM JOSEPH BOTELER (Age 91)  
Of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Ocean Pines, MD and Adelphi, MD, William Boteler died on Saturday, January 29, 2011 following a stroke. He was born in Washington, DC to Michael Harmon Boteler and Mary Ann Boteler. Mr. Boteler served with distinction in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat engineer, participating in campaigns in the Southern Philippines, the Northern Solomons and at Guadalcanal. Before and after the war, he was a printer at the Government Printing Office and later held executive positions at GPO and the U.S. Treasury Department during his Civil Service career. He earned an accounting degree from the Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, DC. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Carroll Boteler, children Michael (Bobbie) Boteler, Donald (Ann) Boteler, Christine (Steve) Haynes, Jean Marie (Rob) Izzi, Paul (Teri) Boteler, and John (Cathy) Boteler, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Boteler was predeceased by brother Harmon Boteler, sisters Mary Ann Lacey and Rita Sebold and granddaughter Karen Scully. Mr. Boteler was a baseball player and lifelong fan and an avid golfer. Relatives and friends will be received at Resurrection at Riderwood Chapel, 3160 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD, on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Graveside service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD on Friday, February 4, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road, NE, Washington, DC 20017, www.littlesistersofthepoorwashingtondc.org/ or to the charity of your choice.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com
