I love you and miss you Mike. You've always been more like a brother than a cousin to me mainly I guess because we were both raised by our grandma who taught us the same values. But you were always more goofy and more mature than I was, even though you were younger than me. I regret not spending more time with you.

Just by reading other's messages about you brings me back memories of your laughter. I remember how we always teased you (as loving family of course) of your laugh because it was so high pitched. But then of course after you've grown up, it was deep...but based on what others are saying here, it's still unique but this time in a different way...your laughter is remembered because of how you made others feel...happy. You're always looking out for everyone making sure everyone is okay and included. You have a very big heart, Mikey. I miss you and I'm also very proud of you. Love you.

I don't know you as a soldier but as a boy with crooked teeth and a cheesy smile. Also a funny laugh. Then you came back from the Army as a man but still the same Mikey.

I can't stop thinking about you today. Maybe because it's Memorial Day. I still think about the good times we had and all the laughs. I can't forget about all the times we made fun of each other and crack jokes.

The last day I seen you I remember talking to you about having your own family and you said how lucky I was to have kids.

You're last words to me were..."don't worry kuya, I'll be back. I'll bring the Corona and you get the oysters".

I still can't believe you're gone. Miss you Mikey.

May 29, 2011

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I knew Michael before he he joined the military. I remember speaking to him before I entered bootcamp and listening to his encouraging words. He helped me mentally prepare for the military life. He told me "if they can do it, you can too" and those words have stuck with me since.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

My son served with Michael and was friends with him. Gabe lost a good friend and a true warrior that day and he was grieves with you, as do we all. Cpl. Idanan was an amazing soldier and friend. I've had the privilege of serving with him in basic training and our 1st deployment to Iraq with the 2/2 ACR. He always walked around with a smile, cheering you up if you were down, if you had a problem or going through a rough time Idanan knew how to bring you back up. Cpl Idanan will never be forgotten, my deepest condolences go out to his family for he will always be with us in our hearts and in our minds..(see you on the other side mike)

CPL Idanan was a member oh my platoon for OIF1, with the 2nd ACR. Mike was an excellent driver, gunner, and dismount. many of the names that have signed were all there with him and we all benifited from his smile and laugh. We also benifited from his courage and grit. He was a comrade and a brother. See you in Fiddlers Green, Mike. Scouts out! Always Ready!

I grew up with Michael as a child. He was my brother's best friend and was always over our house. He treated me like a little sister and always looked out for me. He was always a hero. When Micheal moved to Utah we somewhat loss touch but my famly always got phone calls during the holidays from him. Whenever I picked up the phone and he said "tessa" I never had to ask who was calling because his voice was so distinct. Mike was so lively and vibrant that there is no way he can be forgotten. You will be missed, but alive in my heart. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Michael J. Idanan.... As he became my driver on his first deployment and roommate in Louisiana, I became his brother and a dependable friend. Michael Idanan had a very good sense of humor, was very caring, dedicated to his job as a soldier, and for the most part.... he had a very good heart. As we all grieve for this brave soul, lets remind each other that he is in good hands of God. My heart goes out to family and friends of Michael Idanan and he will forever remain in my heart.

Having had a grandfather who served in WWII and a father who served in Vietnam, I understand first-hand how war affects not just the families of service members, but the entire community. As an active Naval Reserve Officer myself, as well as the Councilmember for the City of Chula Vista - please accept my & the City's heart-felt condolences for the loss of this American Hero.

Though principled and patriotic Americans can, and do, disagree about particular policies, Chula Vista stands united by those who, in the powerful words of President John F. Kennedy, have been called to "pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

Please accept our condolences in the recent passing of your beloved son/nephew/friend. I'm sure that you are going to miss their presence very much. We know that dealing with the absence of a loved one is very difficult.

IN SYMPATHY,

Councilmember John McCann

Michael will be layed to rest this Friday at Golden Gate National Cementary in San Bruno, CA. Thank all of you who are continuing to serve our country....don't give up the fight.
