Wanted you to know that Sat Aug 18th my son chose your sons poster at the Hempstead Watermelon Run for the Fallen. He ran hard and came in 10th place with your son on his back. He said it was his honor to run for him. Even though we do not know you he will hang your sons picture in his room and pray for the family. We are thankful for his service and ever so sorry for your loss.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Buford Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Travis W. Buford US Army Private 1st Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

It is so hard to believe that it has been 4 years since my son, Travis Wayne Buford, was KIA. The memories are sweet. The grief is painful. I am so thankful that he is remembered and honored here.
My daughter, Candice, gave me a bracelet that says, "...it was then that I carried you..." It is only by God's Grace that Travis was on this earth and touched so many lives. And it is only by God's Grace that I survived Travis leaving this earth before me.

PFC Travis Buford was on his way to help extract me from the bomb site. i was in the truck that was hit originally, killing S.S.G Joshua Hager. I dont think i had ever met him, and i very highly doubt that he even knew who i was. but they got there as quick as physically possible to try and help and save lives. i will never forget what him and PFC Rowan Walter did for me, nor any other service member who has died protecting their fellow soldiers. if anyone knows how i could contact the families of either of these two, please call me 518 729 0665, it would really mean a lot. thank you. There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Travis was one of the nicest most selfless guys I have ever met.
He always had a smile on his face and I never once heard him say a bad thing about anyone.
I will miss all the crazy memories of driving in the rain with him and him making fun of me and my best friend for driving all over the road because we couldn't see the lanes, all the times we hung out in the barracks, the pool hall and the attempts to buy him shirts that actually fit even though the oversized ones are a lot more comfortable...
This empty feeling will not go away until I see his face again and tackle him with a hug, and that won't be too long from now.
I miss you Travis, you are my hero.

Though Travis will never get to meet my daughter Fayth, He is the reason for my having her. I did not know if I was capable of raising her and considered giving her up for adoption. I told him one night on the phone how I thought she would be better off with another family to which he responded " who better to love and raise a child then her mother." I told him the Father might not want to have a child and be a father. He told me...and his words haunt my mind when I see her, "Then I will be her Stand In daddy" His words gave me the strength I needed to Keep my child. I will forever be grateful. YOur son was more of a hero then most will ever know.

Isaiah 6:8-'I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" and then in we read Isaiah's ready response: "Here am I! Send me".
God is seeking hearts that are surrendered to Him. He is seeking those who are available, dependable, and willing to be used. In those lives, God will show Himself strong, and He will be glorified.
Please don't be sad, nor angry, for Travis's work on earth is done. He answered to God just as Isaiah did, "Here I am".
Travis was a soldier for the United States and now he is a soldier in God's Army.
God Bless You,

To the Family and Friends of Pfc. Travis W. Buford:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
