I grew up listening to the Banner Shelton Show on WMYN. He was a big part of our community and a man that I admired. May God be with the family during this time and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Ruby,
Words are inadequate to express my deep sorrow on the death your beloved husband, Banner Shelton. As a young Methodist minister in Mayodan during the 70's it was my distinct honor to have morning devotions on WMYM radio. It was there that I first met Banner and was blessed to have called him my friend. His time in Mayodan was more than an executive with the radio station. Banner was incarnate with the community as he reached out to all the people and blessed each of us with his compassionate concern and authentic care. The smile on his face when he met each of us would make our day. Such a great gentleman was this beloved man. Through his God given love and talents, he raised the standards of life in that wonderful community and we shall carry that blessed memory with us into eternity. I know that he is with his blessed Lord and is being given his sacred place in his heavenly Father's kingdom. And there with all the saints of heaven, Banner continues to do the Father's will by loving his heavenly family, as he loved us and lifted our lives to a greater being. We are thankful and blessed that God sent him our way. And we shall never forget the impact he made on our lives by simply being Banner Shelton. Additionally, may I express my deep appreciation to you Ruby for being so kind and thoughful to my late mother, Elsie Adams in Mount Airy. She loved you immeasurably.
Your eternal friend,
Charles L. Adams

Mrs Shelton, I began my radio career at WMYN back in 1971.. And of course worked with Banner. I actually was hanging out there with my Cousin Benny Ray Shelton in 1970 on Sundays when the radio bug hit me. I asked Banner to hire me before I was old enough to drive, but he told me I had to wait until I was 16 to work there.... I told him My Daddy would bring me to work, but He didnt go for that. He was well liked in the M-M community. I have had phone calls and emails about his passing. Our prayers go out to you and all of the family.,
