In life you don't meet many men who are tough guy yet really care about other people. What is said about his ferociousness and tenacity on the field during his years with the Chicago Bears is far from the man off the field. A “Superman” with a heart that matched his size. I am glad to have had the privilege to know him as I did. Rest in peace Rick

I have a lot of fond memories of Rick at Jefferson during 1949/50. As a manager/"waterboy" for the football, basketball, and track teams we had a great relationship and great times. He was truly a down-to-earth, fun loving guy. Rest in peace my friend.
