William Jordan "Will" Elliott, 91, of 204 South Church Street, Hertford, N.C., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Elliott was born in Perquimans County on Jan. 22, 1923, and was the son of the late Anthony Benjamin and Gladys Jordan Elliott. A retired security guard, he had also worked for many years as a commercial fisherman, and was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Syble East Elliott; four sisters, Marion Henderson, Gertrude Keller, Margarite Mahone, and Hattie Etheridge; and by three brothers, Troy, Joe, and Alphonso Elliott.
Surviving are his two sons, Earl Elliott and fiancée Lisa of Elizabeth City and Paul Elliott of Hertford; a sister, Iris Byrum of Elizabeth City; three brothers, Preston Elliott of Hertford, Hubert Elliott and Jarvis Elliott, both of Elizabeth City; a granddaughter, Jessica; two great-granddaughters, Carmen and Raine; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. H. Gene. Boyce. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the home of his son, Earl Elliott, 1200 B Overman Circle, Elizabeth City.
