Rose M. Giandalia
Rose M. Giandalia passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 8, 2015. She recently celebrated her 96th birthday.
Rose was a fourth generation Californian, born in Monterey on March 14, 1919. She was one of 14 brothers and sisters. In 1939, she married Joseph Giandalia. They raised their daughter, Irene in Hawthorne and enjoyed 53 years together.
In 1980, Rose and Joe moved to Lomita. In retirement, they traveled and were active in senior clubs and St. Margaret Mary Church. Truly a woman ahead of her time, Rose loved to exercise before it was popular. She swam and taught exercise classes. Rose was artistic; she liked to paint, sketch, and write poetry. Singing and Western dancing were other favorite activities.
Rose loved her family above all. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Irene Henrikson (Paul); three grandchildren, Monica (Steve), Keith (Ewa) and Amy Spain. Rose also delighted in her six great grandchildren, Xavier, Noah, Valerie, Lucia, Maria (deceased) and Zachary. The family wishes to thank Rose's devoted caregivers.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church in Lomita at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 15. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

My condolences to her family. I did not get to know her but spoke with her on the phone a few years back at some length. I believe her husband, Joe and my husband, Anthony were 3rd cousins. I'm sorry we never met. Thoughts and prayers, Carol Giandalia
