I met John several years ago in a church-sponsored social group of widowed and divorced people, and we talked on many occasions while at dinner or playing cards. Like the rest of us, John really enjoyed it when he won a game of Euchre, and a victorious smile would come across his face. After his initial health incident, he was realistic and philosophical about his life, but never lost his sense of humor. Above all, his love for his children shone through. Taken way too soon, John will be remembered with tenderness and love by his friends in Louisville.

I am so sorry to learn of John's passing. I had connected with him on Facebook and it was fun to catch up about our childhood memories and all the fun we had in the neighborhood as young kids. He had posted a picture of him and Donna and I and I believe Anne, eating Popsicles out front of the house, it made me chuckle! We were so young! May you find comfort in the memories that you have and know he is pain free. Praying for peace for all of you....Rest easy 'ole neighbor.....

My fondest memory of John was when his family would come to visit my family in West Virginia. While our parents were visiting and catching up on recent events, my sisters and I along with John and Anne would sit on the floor of the living room and hallway making houses with the dozens of card decks my family had. Another fond memory was when I pulled John up and down our driveway in the red wagon we had. Our yearly visits either in West Virginia or Dayton were always filled with fun and laughter.
