Archie Woodrow "Joe" Butts, Jr., age 68, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Greenville, SC, on April 16, 1946, he was the son of the late Archie Woodrow Butts and the late Alpha Butts. Joe was a graduate of Westminster High School and attended Southern Wesleyan College and earned a Master's degree from Clemson University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He spent many years in education serving special needs children. He was an avid drummer and loved fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Libby Butts; a son, Joseph W. Butts "Joe", of Walhalla, SC; a daughter, Connie Tannery, of Seneca, SC; step-daughters, Dennie Guidici and her husband Andy, of Easley and Leigh Nalley and her husband Cody, of Easley, SC; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Bryant and Sara Knight.
The Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.with Dr. Vaughn Reynolds officiating. Innichement will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

My sympathy on your loss, Mrs. Butts. You were kind enough to sit with my husband through Hospice and I do appreciate it. He passed away three years ago this month. God's blessings.
