My thanks Brian; R.I.P. In respect of the loss of Sapper Brian Collier

Oh Lord so tough to comprehend
What makes a hero stand
Between the terror that slithers forth
And those who need a helping hand
A hand to lift and help to guide
Bring forth a nation from its past
A hand to provide safety’s net
Clear a pathway far and wide
We could never measure the fear in one
Who steps forth to clear the way
Steps forth knowing that every step
Could be his last one tragic day
Yet brave beyond all compare
This soldier kept his smile
Went about his daily job
To clear that pathway mile on mile
Oh lord forgive me, I forgot to pray
For his safety on this day
And I let down a promise made
To a hero along the way
You see I told young Brian
When I wrote to wish him well
That I would pray each and every day
To bring him safely home and well
I let him down for a brief, brief time
On my vacation as I went
I forgot to pray for Brian, his friends
As I went along my way
So sorry Brian please know I care
Please know this breaks my heart
I pray our Lord will bring you near
For the hero that you are
My compassion to your family
To your friends who’ve stood so near
My heart, my prayers, forever close
Are reflected in the tears
They have fallen for so many now
Brian we know your not alone
Now standing with that brotherhood
Who have stood proud for their fellow man

Your efforts Brian will not be forgotten. You are Canada, and you and your fellow troops are in our hearts.

Sapper Brian Collier, our prayers reach out for you, your family, your loved ones, friends, and fellow soldiers. We do, so dearly, thank you and your loved ones for your efforts towards making our world a better place. We will remember
