Dear Mrs. Collins,
We were so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. He was a good and honorable man. We shall always remember him as the best example of a real Christian. Sincerely,

Dear Mrs. Collins & family,

I was looking through some of my mom's things, saw your name, and decided to look you and Adm. Collins up. I am so sorry for your loss. I know that my parents, Howard & Carolyn Wilkins, would want me to tell you how much your friendship meant to them over the years. The last time I saw you was at my dad's funeral in 2000; Adm. Collins spoke movingly about their days at OCS and their lifelong friendship. My mom passed away in '06, but I remember well some of the stories she told me about you & her back in the "good old days" when you were young navy wives together. You have my deepest sympathy.

Sincerely,
Caroline Wilkins

I have a number of memories about Admiral Collins but one that sticks out is how he beat me to work at the Naval Station San Diego riding his bike. He was a Captain at the time, I a Lieutenant Commander.
Admiral Collins was a physical fitness proponent before it was "cool" and frequently rode his bike to work from Bonita to the San Diego Naval Station.
One morning as I was driving to work in my 240Z, I blew past Admiral Collins as he was riding through National City. Much to my chagrin, as I was sitting at a stoplight waiting to enter the Naval Station gate, Admiral Collins blew by me on his bike. When I finally arrived at the building where I worked, and where Admiral Collins (then a Destroyer Squadron Commander) had his shore side office, there was his bicycle with Commodore Collins nowhere in sight.
The latest technology is not always the best.
I also admired Admiral Collin's teaching ability in the Sunday School at the church both of our families attended in Chula Vista.
He was a superb naval officer, and a man whose personal life and conduct set a standard for all to emulate.
He will be missed.

Dear Esther,
Thank you for your very thoughtful Christmas card and remembrance of RADM Collins. It was a great pleasure to have served on Frank's medical team during my Navy days at Bethesda. I send my blessings to you and your family and a special thought for your wonderful husband and my shipmate in service.
Jim Frame, CAPT USNR(ret)Medical Corps
