Darla was a co-worker and friend to me for many years. We were the only women in a world of men at work and we shared many laughs about being in such a unique situation. She was strong, smart, confident, hard working, and funny. She was the person we relied on to solve our most difficult work challenges. She truly was a master of our craft. I watched her battle breast cancer in complete awe of her strength and optimism in the face of such adversity. She was an inspiration to me when I fought my own cancer battle making our bond stronger. I will always be grateful for having known and worked with such a special woman.

I met Darla in 1970 at Palisades Garden Skating Rink, in San Diego. It was love at first sight. Her smile and hazel eyes would melt you and her beauty was unbelievable. We married so young, but grew up into a mature couple. Although we both found we were destine to travel different roads in our lives, we maintained a friendship that was never ending. And although divorced, Darla stayed a welcomed part of my family attending our yearly family Christmas Eve gatherings until her health held her from flying out to California. Darla will always have a place in my heart and will be deeply missed, especially by our son, Shawn, our grandsons, Tyler & Trentyn, and her family & relatives. I'm comforted in knowing that she no longer lives in pain, but heartbroken that she left us at such a young age. Rest in peace, Sweetie.

Darla was a special person and a pleasure to work with. Together we overcame many roadblocks in the workplace and I will never forget the contrabutions she made to the projects we were associated with. She will me missed by many people who were lucky to have worked with her.

Darla was an inspirational friend and co-worker to me. Whenever there was a problem I couldn't figure out, she had the unique ability to break it down, examine the pieces and find a solution quickly and confidently. She was the hardest working person I'd ever met. She left no rock unturned, and was so thorough and concise – all attributes that made her the best NC Programmer that I ever had the pleasure of working with.
She was a book-end to a dependable and confident team of programmers that I feel proud to have been a part of.
Darla's love of her son Shawn and her Grandchildren Trentyn and Tyler was so evident in how often she'd speak of them, displaying their pictures and traveling to be with them. I've known Darla well before her Grandchildren were born, and it was heartwarming to see Darla basking in the newly found loves in her life and transforming her own life to being such an amazing Grandmother.
I will miss her sense of humor and no-nonsense attitude in life. A good friend and co-worker could not be found and she will be missed by us all.
My deepest sympathies go out to Charlie, Shawn and the boys, Mike, June and all of Darla's family.

I will miss the knack you had of remembering all of the little quirks of the Windows OS and the conference calls to chat and make something out of nothing. I will miss those bits of advice. You had a family that totally admired you and coworkers to boot. With your demeanor and skills I could expect nothing less. I will miss you.
