Dear Kimberly and David,
I was thinking of your mom today and checked the internet for Evelyn Kohr on Via Bello in San Diego.... And your dad's obituary came up on google.
I am sorry for your loss. I am writing this message because I knew Evelyn Kohr from 1969 through 1972. I was a gymnast and cheerleader those three years at Kearny High School where your mother taught Physical Education, was the Gymnastics & Swimming coach and the Song & Cheerleader's coach & supervisor. At my 40th Kearny High School reunion I learned that your mother had passed away. I am very sorry I hadn't seen her before then.
Your dad must certainly have been the best husband to your mom because of the great position she had in the instruction of teenage girls in the field of athletics. Your mom and her colleagues were pioneers in their day. I miss her very much and hold dear the memories of your mother's very girlish and playful behavior. Gene is how I remember "Mrs. Kohr" refer to your dad. I may have met him just a couple of times but certainly knew they must have had a wonderful relationship. She referred to both of you as Kimi and David. I regret not coming over to give her a hug each time I was in San Diego. Because of Gene, Evelyn was able to pursue a career and together they raised a wonderful family. The Song & Cheer squads absolutely loved her and we could not have asked for a more hip and understanding "grown up" to discipline and oversee our sneaky behavior.
May they be in peace,
Elizabeth Reyes Miesfeld
