Momma Katy, you treated me like your own daughter and always did so from the very beginning. It means a lot to me and makes me feel like your own daughter. I could not have asked for a better mom-in-law. I have always from the first time I met you, loved you. I know how much you loved your family and extended family and wrote many letters; and, at the end of all my letters you wrote your wonderful "words of love". I'll treasure my letters that I have received from you since I relocated to Oklahoma. I'll treasure my relationship with you for over 22 years...and I'll be ever grateful that when my own Mother passed in 2000, you really took me under your wing. THANK YOU, Momma Katy! And, thank you, too, for your wonderful son, Gilbert! MAY YOU both REST IN GOD. Until we can all be together again, all my love, your daughter in law, Gail Lee Spaulding-Merino.

I am so very sorry
To hear of your loss….

No words can take away the sadness you must feel,
But hopefully the cherished memories of your mother will give you strength in the days ahead

It is never easy to lose someone you love, and even harder when that person is your mother.

May you and your family find comfort in the memories of all you shared together with Katherine.

Mrs. Merino was always my favorite Mom while growing up through Carol and my teenage years. We certainly didn't get away with much but still yet she always made me feel part of her family! She even gave me a nickname I did not much enjoy while in my lack of confidence years, but grew to laugh and love it now! Recently she laughed with me too over her pet name. I will miss your witty ways and I hope you find peace and all those you have loved and lost.

The Merino family has our most heart felt condolences on the loss of their mother, grandmother and great mother. I have wonderful memories of the Moreno family and the old neighborhood amongst the lemon orchards where we played for hours.
