Dear George and Family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers. Losing a mom is heart-wrenching and a void that can never be replaced. As you know my mom passed away this year and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her and miss you terribly. Our loving mothers are now at peace with the Lord and out of any pain that old age had brought to them. Their spirits live on within us and we are blessed to have had such wonderful mothers to always be a part of us. You're mom will be dearly missed by all.
May God bless you during this time of sadness.
With heartfelt love and condolences,
Cousin Michele & Family

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am glad I was able to visit with Aunt Alice in San Diego a few years ago while on a business trip. We had dinner; she showed me her house and neighborhood and insisted she be my navigator on driving tour of the city. I enjoyed learning about the various sites and where Uncle Frank once worked. May she rest in peace with God, your dad, and Franklin.
With deepest condolences,

My deepest condolences to all of Alice's family and, in particular, ANTHONY & KELLY JEAN. Your grandma Alice was such a warm, loving and generous person and I want you to know she will be deeply missed by all of your Mom's family. She was so gracious and welcoming to each and every one of us and, I will always remember how happy she was whenever she was surrounded by a house full of family and friends. A really wonderful woman and a very special grandmother. I know she will be there looking over the both you...

Adeline and Sally, We are sad that we will not be at the services to give you both a hug with our condolences. The Gonsalves family was big part of our growing up in New Bedford and the ties between our dads were solid. Alice was the eldest and also the one who took all the slack when we used to romp around at Christmas. We pray for her soul as she goes into our Lord's Kingdom.
Our love and condolences to the whole Gonsalves family

Dear George/family + Frank/family: What a wonderful testimony for Titi Alice to live 92 years mostly quite healthy, to be committed to her faith her entire lifetime ...and to die quite peacefully surrounded by a family that loves her! Gee ... it doesn't get much better than that! I'm thankful for Madrinha (my Godmother) Alice and am comforted knowing she now lives for eternity in PERFECT HEALTH, COMPLETE JOY and forever with the Lord and so many relatives & friends who were waiting to see her when she crossed over into God's LOVING EMBRACE. May the Holy Spirit bring all of you the consolation that your Mom & Grandma leaves behind a life well-lived. Know she is REJOICING in the never-ending celebration of NEW LIFE with the Lord. Looking forward to having SO MANY of our family members together in San Diego next week. Sending much love & blessing to you . . . Cousin Pauline Wright and family

Dear Family & Cousins,
I hope that all the great times, great friends and Titi Alice's smile and loving heart will sustain you in the time to come. She was such a special Lady to all who knew here.. I loved that she loved the Chargers, her spunk and that low voice of hers. But most of all I loved her smile, loving heart and her laughter. I will always remeber her and I know my Mom( Addie) , Titi Sally, Janet Corter & Cousin Mary Bickston to name a few and many more will miss so much talking to her on the phone!! That part is so sad not to have a loved one, or a friend just a phone call away.
Kelly Abreu You definetly have a new guardian Angel looking after you and guiding you because although she is in heaven but our loved ones stay with us in our hearts forever! Make sure you put up that manger every year to carry on those traditions your Grandma taught you : )..
George & Jennie Thank you for all the outstanding love nad care you gave your Mom especially through these difficult times and Frank & Sandy & family as well. Nobody can every take the place of a Mother or Grandmother... They stay with us Forever...
All my Love & Prayers,

Please accept our condolences and love.
May she rest in peace with God, your dad, and Franklin. Your mom was such a happy, loving person. I will always remember Aunt Alice, my baptism godmother. Although Blessed Virgin Mary was my baptism godmother; your dad was my baptism godfather and single at the time. My parents didn't know who to name as my baptism godmother because there were so many single girls in the family and they didn't want to hurt anyone. After your mom married your dad, my parents always said that Aunt Alice was to be called my baptism godmother. I was so proud of her being my godmother; she was always so pleasant and kind. We will always remember your parents' visit to our home, my Auto Garage, and photos taken there with Barbara and our son, baby George Philip in 1985. We will always remember working with your mom and dad in 1989 Car Raffle Barraca selling raffle tickets and eating dinner at Davy's Locker with all of us.

I will always remember her trip to New Bedford in 1961 with your dad and you when your dad served on Feast committee. George, Jen, Anthony and Kelly;
Frank, Sandy, Alyssa and Noah:

Please accept my condolences and love at this time. Aunt Alice is at peace in heaven with God, your dad and Franklin. Your mom was so religious and family-oriented---God and all of you meant the world to her--she was so proud of each one of you. Our weekly Sunday telephone conversations began after my parent's passed away. When Aunt Alice visited us in 2002, she noticed that our parents were getting older and began to call them each Sunday until they passed away in 2004 and 2005. Our parents were always happy to hear her voice and----each one would always speak to her and say "Conhada Alice" (sister-in-law, Alice) with such love in their hearts for her. When they passed away, I always remembered her calls to them from 2002 through 2005. I started our hour-long Sunday calls every week, and we would try to beat each other calling except when we were out of town. She always updated me about all of you in Texas. We would also discuss politics and sports, especially the Chargers versus our New England Patriots---she loved football and when the New England Patriots were champs---the discussions got a little heated-----it wasn't bad when we discussed baseball and the Red Sox and Padres---she loved football better than baseball. God be with all of you and comfort you at this difficult time.

Before my grandma started living with us, Christmas was always the most special time of year. She would come right before my birthday dinner and then we would have my birthday dinner(s) and then within the next couple weeks, get ready for christmas. Every year we would pick a day and she would come down stairs and we would start on the manger, which was an old portugese tradition, and she would sit and hand me all the little houses, trees, people, churches, and I would put them just about anywhere but if she didn't like it, oh man she would let me know. =) But thats what made it have "grandma's touch." Christmas, and really every holiday will never be the same without Alice. She was the happy holiday spirit that made christmas so special. I'm sure when I am doing the manger this year, she will still be right next to me, watching me. I miss and love you so much grandma. Forever and always. Rest in Peace beautiful.

My heart goes out to George, Jeni, Kelly, Anthony, Frank, Sandi, and the rest of the Abreu family. I was at her birthday celebration last month, and told her how good she looked; and that my mother, also celebrated her 92 birthday. During my recent difficult times, she would write me and give me words of encouragement. She was so good about writing me, even when I was far away. She wanted to see me when I returned; and so I did. I will miss this fine lady. We can all take a lesson in life from her for her dedication to her family.

Our condolences to the family. Alice was a wonderful lady who will be missed. I have known Alice my whole life and will always cherish the memories. We use to visit her Point Loma home when I was little and we use to all sit around and enjoy each others company. Also Mrs. Gonsalves home as well. The memories we have will live on. R.I.P. Alice....you will be missed. Viva Madeira...I know you are singing and dancing The Bailinho Da Madeira with my Meme and Vouvou. Love you.

Mrs. Abreu was a great woman and I'm glad I had the honor to know her. She treated me like her own and always had a smile on her face. I will especially miss our football chats. God bless her family and friends during this time of grief.
October 01, 2013
Although someone may not be with us here, their memories will always remain. I will fondly remember playing for hours upon hours at Mrs. Abreu's home. George and I would play baseball in the yard and Mrs. Abreu would make us lunch. Additionally, at the holidays we would go to Mrs. Abreu's parent's home and it was as if we were family. The relationship with Mrs. Abreu goes back the day her father delivered bread to my grandparents. May she rest in peace and may her family find comfort during this time.

I HAVE LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM ALICE FOR OVER FORTY YEARS, AND ALSO KNEW HER LATE HUSBAND...THEY WERE A DEVOTED COUPLE, CATHOLIC CHURCH MEMBERS WITH MANY FRIENDS, AND FINE UPSTANDING NEIGHBORS. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL THAT KNEW HER. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL THE FAMILY.....
October 01, 2013

I always called her Momma, because that was the way she was to me. My mother would have been the same age. So, one day, my wife, Dagmar told me that she received a letter from Mary Alice. I said who is that. She said that is George's Mom. I said I did not know that. I thought her name was Momma Abreu, and that is what she was to me. She was a huge Chargers fan, and we used to set and watch the games with her. I even bought a Jersey, just so she would know I was rooting for the Chargers. From both myself and Dagmar, who is presently home in Berlin, Germany, our heartfelt sympathy for the families loss. She was like a mother to both of us.
October 01, 2013
Although we only came to know Alice relatively late in her life, we treasured every moment. We enjoyed our visits with her and her stories of earlier days in Point Loma as well as her family - her first love. She enjoyed our little dog Zoe when we visited and nothing was better than Alice getting a kiss from Zoe. We will never forget her.
October 01, 2013
Our sincere condolences to George and Jennie Abreu and Alice's family and her friends. Frank and I will always cherish our memories of Alice. We have been close friends for many years and we are thankful to have visited with her for her 92nd birthday. Our thoughts are with you and her sisters, Addie and Sally and their children and Alice's grandchildren and their families. May Alice rest in peace and she knew we loved her dearly.

Always enjoyed visiting with Alice when we went to Houston. She was a great lady and will be missed. The last time I saw her she was sitting in her chair with a beautiful green dress on, pearls around her neck, lipstick and that wonderful smile of hers. What a beautiful memory of her.
