I only recently learned of the passing of Chief Beckstead through the USS Iwo Jima Association Newsletter. As a young Hospital Corpsman in 1966, Chief Beckstead was my first Department Chief on my first ship. He taught how a Hospital Corpsman could save lives and how a good sailor behaved. Those were lessons that served me throughout my life. I will never forget him.
You can rest in peace now dad. You are no longer in that horrible pain now. Fly with the Angels!!! I will miss you greatly. Love you!!!
Well, Lynn said it all!!! Wonderful write up. Thank you Judy.
Very nicely written, Judy. Thank you again for being so wonderful to dad and to us kids. You were the glue that kept our family together.
Hi Judy, I was so sorry to read about Dickie. I have many fond memories of his fun and silliness. The write up about him is really nice. I wish you the best, and to all his family members also. Reach me any time. MJ
