Only a few moments ago I found this notice about Tom. Thekla, Mischa and Marcus – I am sorry for your loss. I am also sorry for myself that he is gone. There are very much too many wonderful memories of our time in Germany and they are too bound up with others who are also gone, but I never had so good a friend as Tom during those three years. What ever was good about the US Army chaplaincy was in large part because of his leadership and compassion.

Thekla, Mischa and Nicolas,
I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Pastor very well, but I did enjoy our short chats
when he was at Our Redeemer for the weekly Pastors' meeting. It was so easy to recognize that he truly was a man of God, plus he had a delightful sense of humor. I am so thankful that he did preach for us one Sunday, and I got to hear what a great and talent preacher he was.
Blessings to all of you and rest in the comfort that Pastor now relaxes in the arms of our Lord and Savior and one day we will all be reunited!

Always appreciated Tom's zest for life, his innate friendliness and hospitality. My wife and I especially enjoyed his guided tour of Juneau, Alaska, when we were there. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Alles hat seine Zeit, und alles Vorhaben
unter dem Himmel hat seine Stunde:
geboren werden hat seine Zeit,
sterben hat seine Zeit; pflanzen hat seine Zeit,
ausreißen, was gepflanzt ist, hat seine Zeit;
weinen hat seine Zeit, lachen hat seine Zeit.

To me, Tom was a gentle man and a gentleman. I share in the sorrow of his family and share in the joy of all of us who were privileged to have known him.
