I will always remember Jim both as a caring and thoughtful friend when I knew Jim years ago and as a caring family man From the few conversation I had with Jim from time to time over the years it was clear that Jim was was a caring family man. Being with his kids and family was the place he enjoyed being more than anywhere else on earth. His kids and family were the heart of his life. He was a proud Dad who spoke so highly of all his kids. He was so proud of each of them. He was grateful to Lisa for making it all possible for him.

Jim will be missed.

Dear Mrs Lisa Bender & family-
While we never met you personally, my husband and I wanted to send this note to you and your family when we read of Jim's death. We both worked with Jim in Riverside, then I spent years working with him in Southwest Justice Center. He was such an honest, decent and easy going person, even on the most difficult of cases. As you mentioned in his obit, he truly did represent his clients well, while gaining the respect of every DA that had the honor to work a case with him. He was a bright light in a job that was often difficult, and could bring a smile to everyone's face on the toughest of days. I wish I had the benefit of hearing more about his family and life outside the office while we worked together. Undoubtedly, I would have respected him even more. We are so sorry for your loss.
