Though I don't recall meeting Aunt Ada, she sounds like a wonderful person. Her love of flowers and seemingly fiesty personality reminds me alot of her sister, and my Grandmom, June Wendel.
I'm excited to have the opportunity to visit Alaska in a few weeks and look forward to seeing where some of my extended family live.

My name is Cindi. I am the granddaughter of June and Tod Wendel. Ada was my great aunt. I don't remember her very well, but I know I saw her in Johnstown, PA with Grandma and Grandpa Wendel.
It was always exciting to know I had family that lived in Alaska. I don't know if I'll ever get there. Our family is sorry for your loss and we know we have the hope of seeing her again one day. (John 5:28, 29)

I am so sorry to post this at such a late date. I just learned of my Aunt Ada's passing. I always dreamed of visiting Aunt Ada in Alaska. So often, we wait too long. My condolences to my cousins and all the family. Bill Wendel (June & Todd's Son)

I too bowled on a league with Al and Ada in the early 70's. They were a fine couple and a pleasure to know.

Ada was such a special lady. I was priviledged to be one of many communion ministers from Saint Anthony's Catholic Church that would call her each Sunday and say "Can we come and visit?". Some times she would tell us it was to slippery or too cold (she was always concerned about us) and we would tell her that we would still be happy to come. I enjoyed her stories, all her plants and spending time with her. I will miss her bright smile and the visits. I remeber sitting with her at the 50th anniversary dinner at Saint Anthony's Church in November and she was so happy she was able to come.

I used to bowl in the same league as Al and Ada. Its been so long I can't remember the years. Maybe the late sixty's or early seventy's. They were great people.

What a wonderful tribute to your Mom. The part about her shadow was touching. My sisters and I went to school with you on the base.
